By the River Seine
We pledged our love anew.
Two lives joined
By love's coursing stream,
The Left Bank me,
The Right Bank you.
Nobleman, knave, king, and slave,
All here have passed in their time.
All have pondered
These same mystic waters,
Adding a remnant of their soul
To this river sublime.
As these waters rise and fall
With the waxing
And waning of spring rains,
May we, through thick and thin
Be ever reminded that our love,
Like this river, will never end.

our son and daughter-in-law's commitment
ceremony in Paris in 2000.
